With the prolonged internal strife made worse by natural disasters of immense proportions, Somalia’s social service delivery is visibly poor. Infrastructure has broken down and education standards are laughable. Only the presence, diligence, determination and dedication of a vibrant civil society have prevented a total shut down of all services and systems.
ARD stands for Agency Relief and Development organization. It has been duly and legally registered with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC) as well as with operational areas being all the regions of Puntland as a voluntary, non-profit making, non-government, apolitical organization which will serve the public regardless of religion, gender, class or creed or political affiliation. ARD has been formed after a realization that despite a proliferation of NGOs, many lack the requisite expertise, commitment, sense of transparency and professional conduct to impact meaningfully on their target communities.

To see people responding, with compassion and justice, to the needs of the poor, oppressed and suffering in ways that bring healing and transformation in the world’s poorest communities especially Somalia.

ARD Core Values are the essential cornerstones upon which we do our work and are reflected in the following six areas.

We are committed to the development of economic opportunities for people living in poverty in less developed countries so that they have sustainable access to the basic necessities of life.
Transformation
To bring the love and hope to all people, especially the poor; we engage in relief and development programs, through a global network partnership , for the purpose of enabling economic, social and spiritual transformation in the lives of the poor.
Empowerment & Equity
We are committed to the strengthening of civil society where all receive equitable treatment regardless of gender, race and religion. We seek to support programs that move beyond the meeting of basic needs and provide opportunities for economic and social empowerment.
Environmental Integrity
Recognizing the earth as creation to be cared for and maintained for the benefit of all, we are committed to assessments, programs, training and practices that positively affect the environment.
Mutual Interdependence
We are committed to working in mutually interdependent relationships with our indigenous partners, other public and international organizations, and our supporting constituency, including individuals, charitable organization and the agricultural, professional and business communities.
